There are a few items that need to be addressed before you can officially be married in Bermuda legally.
• The legal age to marry in Bermuda is 18 years old. If you are under 18, you must have a written notarised consent from your parents or legal guardian. This is noted on the “Notice of Intended Marriage” form.
• “Notice of Intended Marriage” form needs to be filled out and airmailed to Sweet Dreams for submission to the Registrar General. This form needs to be sent with the required money order, certified bank cheque or bank draft payable to the Accountant General. This will grant you a license to be married in Bermuda. The process takes 15 working days and once issued is valid for 90 days. Sweet Dreams will pick up the license from the Registrar’s Office and deliver to your officiant. In the event that one of you is divorced, a copy of your divorce decree needs to be included with the “Notice of Intended Marriage” form and fees. The price of this process is $243. Which includes posting of banns in the local newspaper and one marriage certificate. You can get an additional certificate for an added fee.

• Once the ceremony has taken place, the officiant will submit the document you signed on your wedding day to the Registrar for an official marriage certificate. This process takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks. After which, Sweet Dreams will collect and send your certificate to you. Your marriage is legal worldwide.
• There are no residency requirements.
• There are no blood work requirements.
• Two witnesses are required to sign your marriage license. They must be 18 years of age or older. Sweet Dreams can provide witnesses if need be.
• Civil ceremonies are performed on the island; however, they are performed only in the Registrar’s Office. They will not be performed outdoors.
• Justice of the Peace do not marry on the island.
• If you wish to bring in your own rabbi or minister, you will need to get approval from the Dept. of Immigration (a temporary work permit will need to be issued) and the Registrar General’s office (a marriage officer form would need to be filled out).
